Snowy R.U.A. Happy 2010 – Part 1

Although R.U.A. festival has passed for the Brazilian writers who were in Rotterdam this summer, for Rotterdam it is far from over!

The art remains standing strong, in all types of weather and last week it has been snowing like crazy in Holland.

Our one and only, hardcore photographer Evert Eijkelenboom regularly makes his trip around town, to shoot some new images…

These ones we couldn’t keep for ourselves!!

We would like to use this opportunity to wish you all a fantastic and artistic 2010!

Chilling and gambling

Finally the boys got to eat feijão again and after that it was time for a laid back relaxing time at the new space designed to meet professional and recreational needs. Actually, on this day we did more than relaxing and talking about art. Heavy drinking, smoking and major gambling activities went on through out the night. Even though a lot of people lost money, Yusk took everybody’s lunch money, and at the end there was an overall sense of being part of something special, or maybe it was just the booze talking.

Delftsehof

The first wall is ready! After nearly 20 days of early mornings, yoga postures, vegetarian eating, no alcohol, long painting summer days, Speto’s work makes Rotterdam warmer and more beautiful!

On his way here, Speto had to wait 4 hours for his connection in Madrid. Instead of wainting in a borring cold airport, he went to Reina Sofia Museum to check once more one of his favourite paintings of all times, the “Guernica”, from Picasso. When asked about his inspiration for his piece at Delftsehof, Speto doens’t hesitate: Guernica was his light!

Aumenta o som dj!

When you miss home, nothing better than some delicious national specialties, cooked specially for you, followed by a fun party with good friends!

Dalata just revealed his king of the ragga a la Bennie Man style, and broke it all on the dance-floor. Funk, funk and more funk! – But only a carioca funk session, claimed Gais! Speto, shakes all to the floor! Fit, fit yoggi boy!

Meeting of generations

post4.2It’s always nice to see old school and new school artists coming together. It’s even nicer to see it happening on a wall, with different colours and shapes coming to life. Speto and Gais represented at Street Science Festival and left a beautiful piece with some help of Lastplak and other local writers from Rotterdam.

Street Science Jam

Graffiti artists always urge to paint. Even going to bed very late the night before, Gais, Dalata, Stile and Speto were up at 8 a.m. to get cans to paint a collective wall in the centre of Rotterdam. The wall was organized by the super cool hip hop festival Street Science, and artists from all over Holland were there. As it couldn’t be different a lot of curious people stopped by to check it out, and got totally surprised with the unexpected Brazilian style. Big up to our boyz! Big up to Street Science!
