Last but not least…

Yes…yes!! We are still alive…after a few computer crashes later…some lost images and some survival acts…a few weeks and many events later, we couldn’t let you wait any longer…what happened to all the walls in Rotterdam?

First of all we would like to show you a few different perspectives of Onio’s last wall…

Gais’ wall at the NAi had great attention during De Wereld van de Witte de With. The light was beautiful and it was amazing to have it as a decoration for the festival. The good news afterwards was that the NAi wants to keep the painting one more month again!! Let’s see how it will work next month!

Is it really true…? Is Gais ready…!! Wow!!! 300m2. wall at the NAi is ready…and what now??

It has been an extreem challenge for all participants of this project to see if they could actually manage to work on such huge surface. We are all amazed that they all did, as if it is their daily occupation they do for many years. No scetching, no doubting, simply painting…!!

We got the happy news that Gais’work will stay on the NAi for one more month!! ON September 23rd it will be taken off. For all those that didn’t have a close look yet, it is absolutaly worth it, because only than you can understand that it is a HUGE wall!!

Congratulations Gais!!

And ofcourse it is time to check out what is going on at the NAi, because although we had the official opening the 1st of August, the work is still in process… Gais is rocking, totally changed his lifestyle, is waking up (relatively) early and works at least until 10 pm. The final touch is almost…he might might come with one of his misterious surprises….

R.U.A. OPENING @ NAi

If you put together a sunny day, good music, great food, people drinking beer barefoot on the grass, loud conversation, lots of beer and the sound of spraying cans on the air, you got yourself an original Brazilian party, and it doesn’t matter if it happens in Rio de Janeiro or Rotterdam.

The opening event of the R.U.A. Festival had all those ingredients and more…The wall of the NAi, that´s being painted by Gais, was the chosen location for the party, and the Dutch visitants had the opportunity to check out the brazilian “barraquinhas” that were filled with the nations goods, like cold guaraná and finger foods. They also had the chance to dance to two different Brazilians DJ’s (Dubstalker and Tia) and to the original sounds of a incredible Brazilian group. Straight from São Paulo, Curumin (www.myspace.com/curumin) is a band that travels on different musical realms such as funk, electronic, reggae e of course, the good old Brazilian musical vibrations.

The graffiti writers Ramon, Gais and Dalata got their hands dirty and painted a huge canvas with the help of some local artists. Now we´re officially rolling and the Brazilian guerrilla painting is taking over the city!!!

Finally Gais got to understand his elevator. After a few little inconveniences with the machine he had the courage to go there all by himself…and in the end it wasn’t that bad at all…!

Horoiwa’s wall is 216m², and needed to be fully covered with white latex before he could start to spray on it. To help him with his task, 3 German urban artists (Momo, Kola, and Happy Pill) had the patience to come all the way to Rotterdam. They belong to the art collective Natur and Happy Pill, and those who are really creative take any chance to use creativity: instead of just covering the walls in white, they made a quick and fun piece of their own. As they were high up in the elevator, we received the first visit from the already expected guests: the police! And guess what? They were not there to complain about the wall, but to complain about a little stain of paint that we dropped on the floor… No problem! We’ll clean it, yes sir, mister sir, yes sir!
