Dalata is a man of many rituals when it comes to painting. One of them is the is the sacred sandwich that he eats everyday at his wall. “Saco vazio não fica em pé” right?

A perfect title for what is going on in Rotterdam! Ramon finally is throwing paint on some wall…and how!!! in a few hours he made his first scetches…caused a burning discussion between landlords, pizzabakers and ladies of the opposite building…if they like it?
The exact content of the discussion we don’t know yet but that the presence of Ramon didn’t pass unnoticed is a fact…!

Yep...!!

Ramon is always like a little colourfull crazy bird passing by…and Maria caught him on the right moment…

Ramon Martins, who else...?

day 1
It is always surprising what to expect when passing by at Dalatas wall. In the mornings he is never there. He starts in the late afternoon and prefers to paint at night. In Holland, there’s a law that you can’t make “noise” after 22hs. so Dalata had to adapt himself to the daylight. His sunglasses are permanently stuck on his face to create a certain superficial darkness. This time we where lucky and found him in higher atmospheres…

Dalata no alto

Upside down
In the early days in Holland, there was another rule, which had to do with tax. Landowners only had to pay tax for the square meeters in the ground, not in the air…that’s why many buildings in Holland are very thin, but very high….

Muito alto!

Very inspired...

Nee he Dalata!!!
The other day I was making one of my rounds visiting all the walls and when I arrived at Yusks wall…I saw Stile painting. Both where having lots of fun tagging around a bit…

Yusk and Stile
Yesterday I did that same kind of round…and found Yusk a little shocked and with his face almost green at the foot of the cherry picker looking up as if something horrible happened to his work. I thought someone had painted over, or something must have been wrong with the machine…when I noticed that someone else was painting his wall…
Did I actually catch Yusk at a wrong moment…does Yusk actually paint his own art? What is going on here? Where we all believing that we where looking at a real Yusk, and now…in the end we have to discover that it’s not true? Who is that misterious artist that isn’t afraid of hights? And who did finish Yusks wall…?

What can i say...?!

Just watching...

Is that true...? Finished...?
Strange things happen around Horoiwa’s wall all the time. The other day the ladies suddenly had a chicken on their head…It was hot like crazy so it might have been a kind of fata morgana effect or something similar, because the chicken already disaappeared again…Maybe it is the hight…?

a huge chicken...enjoying the sun...

Yes!!
Ramon started! The last two days he painted everything in white (and greenish?) latex…! Yesterday was somewhat of a difficult day to do anything due to the Bavaria City Racing that took over the place. Cars all over. It was impossible to even cross the street without getting “atropelado” by a formula 1 car, or by 20.000 visitors walking or cycling by.
New day…today…lets see what he is going to bring!

preparations with the helping hand of Evert

not easy...
For those who think that Stile isn’t painting, they are wrong! Stile is painting, we just happen to never catch him in action. He likes to work unseen. But one of those days we saw something very strange going on on Yusks wall…what’s that!?

eita!! que isso!?

do I see that right??

Yes...it is true...!
Stile is also an excellent driver of cherry pickers…he even takes passengers to roofs and other strange areas of the city on top of buildings…

Is it really true…? Is Gais ready…!! Wow!!! 300m2. wall at the NAi is ready…and what now??
It has been an extreem challenge for all participants of this project to see if they could actually manage to work on such huge surface. We are all amazed that they all did, as if it is their daily occupation they do for many years. No scetching, no doubting, simply painting…!!
We got the happy news that Gais’work will stay on the NAi for one more month!! ON September 23rd it will be taken off. For all those that didn’t have a close look yet, it is absolutaly worth it, because only than you can understand that it is a HUGE wall!!
Congratulations Gais!!

the origial...one and only...Gais!!
